In division two, Sebastopol A climbed into second place after a convincing win over Central Wendouree, rising to the challenge to defeat Centrals on their home turf.
Ballarat North pipped Beaufort by one point, making for a very close, exciting match.
There are also clubs battling it out for top four places in the lower two divisions.
Clubs and teams have the opportunity to build some strength over the pennant break until January 7.
In the meantime there are tournaments such as Heartbeat, and many clubs hold competitions over these two weeks, Christmas and the new year. Notices are at the clubs.
Entries for the state triples entries close January 7, with forms at all clubs. The draw is scheduled to be out in mid-January.
The BDBD is hopeful of running a coach to the Australian Open on February 22 next year. The division is looking to receive bookings by January 7, with at least 40 needed to ensure the trip goes ahead. A great day of high-skilled bowling at Darebin is expected.

Will I ask Rudolf for his predictions for the first round in 2013 or trust my crystal ball instead?
Predictions for round 13:
Division one – Smeaton versus Mt Xavier will be close but I favour Mt Xavier.
In division two I will take a risk and go for Sebastopol A against Creswick.
Linton can get over the line against Webbcona in division three.
Synthetic will rule the day for BMS against Smeaton in division four.
