Our federal budget will not balance. The penny has finally dropped with Ms Wong our finance minister. Wayne Swan said he would do whatever it takes to produce a surplus, more like whatever it takes to win an election.
Keeping pre-election promises is not compulsory. The John Howard non core promises contingency plan for lack of money has gone along with him.
Our politicians are good money managers, they have just ran out of luck, and money. At least we now have 800,000 new jobs to pacify us.

Budget: A plan or schedule adjusting expenses during a certain period to the estimated or fixed income for that period. (Swan wants the income adjusted).
Promise: Declaration binding oneself to do or forbear a certain specific act, an engagement to give something of benefit to another, that which affords expectation, ground of hope, future good distinction, to afford reason to expect a vow.
