Ballarat ready to ring in 2013: plenty of entertainment options

WHILE many residents go away this holiday period, there are some who choose to stay in Ballarat and welcome in the New Year.

Venues around Ballarat and district will be holding New Year’s Eve celebrations and events for all those who are keen.

At the Victoria Bowling Club, country rock singer Don Costa will grace the stage with his presence. Inspired by the likes of Johnny Cash and Slim Dusty, Costa will revisit classic songs with a fresh ear, singing unforgettable numbers with the strong voice he is known and loved for. The show will start at 8pm with tickets costing $20.

The Bluestone will yet again hold a Masquerade Ball with people encouraged to dress up in their most glamourous and elaborate costumes. Doors open at 7pm with the first 100 people receiving a mask. The party is set to last until 4am.

Irish Murphy’s will have live music from 9.30pm and the Peter Lalor Hotel will hold its regular karaoke sessions from 8pm.

Outside of Ballarat, Hepburn Springs’ The Palais will be holding a NYE Masquerade Ball featuring five-piece Exit Crowd , local DJs, giveaways and games as well as champagne and finger-food served throughout the night. It will start at 8pm with tickets costing $40 at the door.

At Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal, party-goers will have the chance to wig up and dance the night away at the Wig Out and Welcome 2013 party.

The event will feature acid blues/rock/soul sensation Checkerboard and all-star dance band Disco Royale. It will start at 8pm with tickets costing $35.
