HEATH Pyke belted an unbeaten century to continue Victoria’s flawless start to the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Bundaberg, Queensland.
Pyke made 113 not out at number four as the Vics registered 7-330 on Sunday before successfully defending the total against Western Australia yesterday.
The skipper’s knock came from 226 balls and included eight fours and two sixes.
Pyke’s Wendouree teammate Tristan Dixon, who is playing in his first country championships, made 42 at number six, while former Mt Clear player Leigh Kentish hit a quick-fire 84 down the order to help Victoria reach its impressive total.
Kentish led the charge with the ball, snaring 3-51 as Western Australia was bowled out for 266 in reply. The figures added to his four wickets from day one of the tournament.
Victoria has back-to-back Twenty20 fixtures with East Asia Pacific and Queensland today.
