Victoria runner-up at the Australian Country Cricket Championships

VICTORIA has finished runner-up at the Australian Country Cricket Championships in Bundaberg following a final-round loss to New South Wales yesterday.

The Vics’ overall standing is a massive improvement on last year, when they finished last.

Captain Heath Pyke and his Wendouree teammate Tristan Dixon made scores of 16 and 25 respectively in Victoria’s 9-292 off 50 overs.

However, the total wasn’t enough as NSW hauled in the target in the final over of the day with two wickets in hand.

Former Mt Clear player Leigh Kentish made seven and didn’t bowl.
