A comprehensive victory over Central Wendouree B allowed the home side to leapfrog their rivals into fourth spot on the table with three rounds of the home and away season remaining.
Smeaton won all three rinks during yesterday’s clash, with Rhonda Armstrong’s line-up defeating Carleen Bowers’ side 38-11, Helen Mizzeni’s team beating Heather Snibson’s quartet 28-26 and Elizabeth Cosgrave’s outfit prevailing 23-17 over Val Page’s side.
At the end, Smeaton recorded an 89-54 triumph to move 14 points clear of Central Wendouree B, which now sits fifth.
Smeaton will fancy winning at least two of its remaining three matches, with fixtures against bottom side Victoria, mid-table Midlands and ladder-leaders Central Wendouree A before finals.
Also yesterday, Central Wendouree A consolidated top spot with a 71-63 victory over Avenue at home, Daylesford remained second following its 86-52 win against Webbcona and Midlands kept its finals hopes alive with a 74-59 success against Victoria.
