The Cycle Classic MTB Fat Tyre Challenge will follow the road event, starting at Lake Wendouree and will take in the forests of Brown Hill, Nerrina and Invermay.
The 35km loop will cater for but challenge beginner riders with moderate fitness levels.
Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club president Phillip Orr is looking forward to the addition of the off-road ride.
“Supporting cancer research is something that everyone wants to be a part of and I’m looking forward to seeing lots of mountain bikers take up the challenge.”
The event includes a family fun day at the Lake Wendouree Yacht Club during the race. Now in its sixth year, the Ballarat Cycle Classic has raised over $630,000 for the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
