Hinchley progresses in Olympic beachvolleyball quest

TAMSIN Hinchley and Nat Cook face an all-Australian match in the next phase of their quest to qualify for the London Olympic Games beach volleyball tournament.

Ballarat’s Hinchley and Cook meet Louise Bawden and Becchara Palmer in the second round of the Moscow grand slam event today (1.50pm Moscow time).

They are seeded 19th in the event, while Bawden and Palmer are 12th.

Hinchley and Cook began the world tour event with two wins from three pool outings to progress to the main draw.

Bawden and Palmer were unbeaten in their pool match-ups, including a win over the fifth seeds from The Netherlands.

Hinchley and Cook then defeated the Brazilian duo of Vieira and Lili (seeded 20) in their opening group assignment.
