BFL: Young faces climb aboard Sebastopol

SEBASTOPOL has locked in a trio of recruits which it hopes will address some areas of concern from last season.

Ruckman Nick Oliver, from Castlemaine, Heywood premiership player Steve Keiller and former club junior Ben Trew are among the new faces on board for the 2013 Ballarat Football League season.

Kookaburras football manager Ken Norman said Keiller played at centre half-back for his former club, while Trew, set for his first season of senior football, would be used as a rover.

“I think it has filled some of the deficiencies, but there’s still a long way to go,” Norman said.

“We’ve got 13 under-18s coming up that played finals last year so there should be a fairly strong contingent coming up there.”

Among those young players expected to filter through to the senior line-up is Jacob Wilkinson and Taylor Stewart.

Norman is also busy preparing for the club’s pre-season lightning premiership, which will be played on Thursday and Friday nights, starting February 21. Clubs can register by calling him on 0408 531 397 or via email on knor0204@yahoo.com.
