Ballarat's champion kickboxer comes home

A WORLD kickboxing championship title defence in Ballarat?

“Why not?” says reigning WKF (World Kickboxing Federation) world champion “Stone Cold” Steven Moxon.

Moxon, who won the world middleweight (72kg) title four weeks ago when he defeated French champion Expedito Valin in a split decision, has returned to Ballarat this week after three years based in Sydney.

Now training at the Barbarian Muay Thai gym, he will base himself in Ballarat with a view to bringing a big fight to his home town.

“I grew up in Ballan so really I’ve come home,” Moxon says.

“I’ve come here to train and teach, but I also want to have a world title defence before the end of the year.

“With a population of 100,000 Ballarat is big enough for a world championship fight if we get the right amount of support.”

Moxon, also the current ISKA South Pacific Champion, has a fight in Melbourne in six weeks before a WKA (World Kickboxing

Association) title fight at the State Netball and Hockey Centre on October 20.

He also has had three traditional professional boxing bouts for three wins, two by knockout.
