Reverend's viewpoint twists the message

IN the article, "Tempering beliefs with facts," the Rev Dr Keith Mascord's contentious viewpoints regarding the Christian scriptures (The Courier, June 19) clearly display the corrupting consequences when theologians cease to believe and teach that the Bible is the actual word of God, and then promote it as just a collection of value laden stories and imaginative myths.

I was astounded at his ability to twist clear texts to try to "modernise" them to suit "post-Christian" philosophy in such diverse areas as the flood and marriage. As he has now thankfully relinquished his teaching role at a theological college I wish him well in his current role as a parole officer.
