THE Central Highlands Football League has a new leader.
Bungaree announced itself as a genuine premiership contender this afternoon when it toppled powerhouse Hepburn by 17 points at home.
The Demons led the contest at every change, putting together strong second and third terms to open up a 28-point buffer heading into the final quarter.
Bungaree then held off the Burras in the last to string together its eighth consecutive victory and move clear at the top of the table.
The result leaves the Demons percentage ahead of reigning premiers Waubra, which beat Clunes by 13 points today. The chasing bunch of Hepburn, Buninyong and Springbank are all four points behind.
In other results, Ballan collected its third win of the season when it beat rivals Gordon by five points, Dunnstown secured a much-needed victory over Illabarook by 37 points, Buninyong staved off a determined Creswick to prevail by 31 points, Daylesford completed a demolition job on Carngham-Linton, thumping the Saints by 107 points, Beaufort overcome Skipton by 29 points, Springbank was victorious over Learmonth by 85 points and Newlyn cruised to victory against Rokewood-Corindhap by 81 points.
