BALLARAT Pride co-captains Georgia Cann and Johanna Dash tonight thanked family and friends for sticking by their team in a tough, disappointing winless period.
An emphatic 60-47 win on the road against Boroondara in Balwyn broke Pride's 45-game losing streak in the VNL's marquee division.
It was Pride's last fixture for the 2012 season.
Pride's last win was against Peninsula in round 8, early May, 2010.
The victory is Pride's fourth of four seasons in the VNL's revamped state league competition.
Cann said it was family and close friends' support that kept the team returning to the court each week in Victorian Netball League's championship division.
Tonight, Cann said she was simply "very, very happy" to finally taste victory for the first time in more than two years.
"We're so pumped," Cann said.
"We knew going into the game that we could do it - this was our chance - and we gave it 100 per cent.
"...We knew in that last quarter it had been that many games since we last won that we all just made sure we extended our lead and held on."
Supporters erupted court-side when the final whistle blew.
Cann said it was a special moment Pride players would remember always.
