Ms Knight said the state government had slashed $555 million from education and a further $290 million from TAFE courses.
“A strong education system provides kids with the best opportunities in life so I can’t understand why Ted Ballieu would cut hundreds of millions of dollars from schools and TAFE,” Ms Knight said.
“The Ballieu government’s cuts to education funding have been so deep that I am regularly hearing from parents, teachers and principals that cuts to programs and staff are affecting students.
MP for Western Victoria Simon Ramsey said the Ballieu government had not directly cut funding to Reading Recovery programs and had increased overall school funding by three per cent in the past 12 months.
