A WENDOUREE 21-year-old was yesterday warned in Ballarat Magistrates Court to prove to his family and friends he could be a “real bloke”.
Magistrate Kay Robertson sentenced David Boyd to a 12-month community corrections order on burglary, theft and unlicensed driving charges.
“If you break the law ... you will be sentenced for these again and you will go to prison. But I think you’re better than that.
“You have your mum and your girlfriend’s support so prove to them you can be a real bloke.”
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Clint Prebble told the court a search warrant was executed on a house in Amphitheatre on August 14 last year, where four Holden mag rims were found.
He said Boyd told police the rims were given to him by another person, who not only denied the claim but said Boyd had tried to sell him stolen motorbikes.
Ms Robertson said Boyd had just finished serving four months jail for more serious burglary matters.
