The dry lake bed caught fire and so did the paddle steamer. The lake is getting a renovation and so is the paddle steamer - this time a complete reconstruction.

Through lack of support, funds, and the fire, Bob Westerwauld has proudly never failed in his belief of seeing the Begonia City paddle steamer back on the lake.

Ten years of frustration and effort with his small dedicated band of helpers.

If there was a gold medal for sheer dedication it should be awarded to Bob.

Well done. Certainly the Aussie spirit is well and truly displayed.
