Police executed the drugs and firearms search warrant just after 1pm at the house.
A 47-year-old Delacombe man was arrested and detained while teams of police searched the property.
Just after 7.30pm, police climbed onto the roof of the brick home and pulled back tiles to search the roof cavity. The search at the address lasted almost nine hours.
Ballarat police Divisional Response Unit Senior Sergeant Darren Tanis alleged a number of items were seized during the raid, including a handgun, ammunition, quantities of unidentified powder and a large quantity of unidentified pills.
Senior Sergeant Tanis said members from the Crime Department, the Australian Federal Police the Victoria Police dog squad and Ballarat police joined members of his own team for the targeted operation.
The Delacombe man was charged with a number of offences and will appear in Ballarat Magistrates Court this morning.
