Red kites to soar for cancer charity

FOREST Street Primary School captain Karli Drew was hoping to make people smile when she joined more than 100 of her school mates yesterday making red kites for a national cancer charity.

Using crepe paper, glue and red cardboard, she designed a kite with one purpose in mind.

“The kids and the adults need help so I hope it’ll make them smile and make them happy,” she said.

The Year 5 and 6 pupils were participating in a Coles fundraising campaign for the Red Kite Foundation, a charity supporting children and young people with cancer.

The finished kites are to be displayed in-store at Coles Wendouree.
