Police have tonight charged a 30-year-old male after a police pursuit in Waubra this morning after the alleged offender clocked almost 200km/h in a 70km/h zone.
Toufic Tlais, from Glenroy, has been remanded in custody and will appear before the Ballarat Magistrates Court on Monday.
He was charged under the new evading police legislation.
The offender had allegedly reached speeds up to 200km/h near Stawell at 9.30am and was lated sighted by police on the Sunraysia Highway north of Waubra.
Police used stop sticks to stop the car, which led to the man's arrest at 11.40am.
EARLIER
A police pursuit has ended with a man being taken into custody near Waubra this morning.
Numerous police cars converged on the Sunraysia Highway as the alleged offender was tracked towards Waubra. It is believed the man had been driving in an easterly direction from Ararat.
The car the alleged offender was driving remains on the scene, awaiting a tow truck to transport it.
Police are still talking to the alleged offender this evening.
