ANOTHER impressive Napoleons-Sebastopol bowling performance has left Mt Clear with plenty to contemplate heading into the final two rounds of the Ballarat Cricket Association club firsts season.
Naps-Sebas had little trouble defending its score of 223, rolling the Mounties for 114 on the second day of the two-day clash at Napoleons.
While Saturday’s victory wasn’t good enough to close the gap on ladder-leaders Wendouree, which skipped further clear at the top with an outright victory over Coronet City, it has helped open up the margin on third place to six points. Resuming at 0-6 on Saturday, Mt Clear lost early wickets and was bowled out soon after 4.30pm.
Spinner Justin Ringin (4-8), brother Matt (3-31) and Buninyong permit player Liam Rigby (2-34) did the bulk of the damage for the home side.
Just four Mounties batsmen reached double figures, with Nic Baird top scoring with 36 in the middle order.
LADDER: Wendouree 52 points, Naps-Sebas 46, Darley 40, Mt Clear 37, Brown Hill 27, Golden Point 27, Ballarat-Redan 27, East Ballarat 24, North Ballarat 24, Coronet City 12.
