SELF-CONFESSED as too old for playing football, too young for lawn bowls and with a dislike for golf, Greg Campbell says dog trialling was his perfect sporting fit.
Eureka Stadium is one of his favourite venues to put his game on show.
Mr Campbell took out his second open title at the annual Ballarat Sheepdog Trials, this time with the calm and seemingly effortless Akoonah Jypsy.
“It was 2005 when I started trialling and I’ve been coming to Ballarat ever since. It’s a top trial,” Mr Campbell said.
“It’s a tremendous venue, especially when you get out on Eureka Stadium.”
Ballarat Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s sheepdog trials ran from 7.30am in the four-day event.
The open finals took centre stage to cap off the meet on Saturday afternoon. Competitors travelled from as far as northern NSW and Tasmania to trial their dogs.
