A CAR has narrowly avoided a collision with a V/Line passenger train at a level crossing in Millers Road, Invermay, just off the Midland Highway.
The accident occurred about 5.45pm.
It is understood the boom gates went through the windscreen of the car.
The train driver slammed on the emergency brakes to avoid hitting the car, trapped in the middle of the crossing.
No one was trapped in the vehicle and the driver was uninjured.
V/Line has replaced passenger train services between Ballarat and Maryborough with a coach service.
More to come.
