TWO Ballarat swimmers have won gold medals at the Victorian Long Course Swimming Championships in Sale.
Daniel Cavanagh won the boys’ 18-and-over 50m butterfly and Ella McCahon took the gold for the girls’ 13-year-olds 100m breaststroke.
The Ballarat Gold swimmers were not alone in taking medals.
Teammates Matthew Norman and Hayley Tucker picked up three medals each in their speciality strokes.
Norman placed second in the boys’ 18-and-over 50m backstroke and boys’ 100m backstroke, as well as third in the boys’ 200m backstroke.
Tucker earned a silver medal in the girls’ 16-17 100m breaststroke and bronze in the girls’ 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Other Ballarat Gold swimmers Thomas Halliday finished third in the boys’ 400m IM and Joshua O’Brien came second in the boys’ 11-and-under 50m backstroke.
Andrew McDougall was the only Ballarat GCO swimmer to win a medal, taking bronze in the boys’ 16-17 100m breaststroke.
The seven medallists were among 18 Ballarat swimmers at finals level at the event.
