The Ballarat Red Devils have looked to the old and the new in their efforts to stay competition in Football Federation Victoria state league two soccer this season.
The Haymes Red Devils have pulled together a very different squad to last season following the departure of Charlie and David King, along with Daniel Tinker and Michael Trigger, who have all moved to the North Queensland Fury in the Australian Premier League Queensland over the summer.
Veteran midfielder Sam Muscat, 34, returns, while Tasmanian forward Corey Smith, Englishman Rhyse Crowe and former Clifton Hll centre-back Laurence Gogorossis are all new to the club.Meanwhile 2007 championship player Dom Swinton has been "borrowed" out of the blue of Sebastopol Vikings, with Shaya Almousa and keeper Darryl Newby also back in the red.
Other departures include Sean Harding to Victorian Premier League team Green Gully and keeper Simon Williams who has moved back to Wales.
Coach Sinisa Cohadzic will have his second chance to put the new-look Red Devils squad through its paces in a competitive hitout at Trekardo Park on Saturday against the first year coach's former club Clifton Hill.
The practice match starts 2pm.
