A FORMER teacher at a secondary school was yesterday sentenced to more than two years’ jail for committing sex acts with children as young as 12.
Dennis Stewart, 50, appeared at the County Court in Melbourne where he was sentenced over four offences during 2010 and 2011.
Stewart pleaded guilty last week, when the court heard he invited a number of boys to his home over a two-year period, asking some of them about the size of their genitals and whether they were gay.
He grabbed two of the boys’ genitals on separate occasions at his home and in his office at school.
On each occasion the boys rebuffed his advances.
Judge Richard Maidment jailed Stewart for two years and three months, with a minimum of 18 months to be served.
