A 25 KILOMETRE police pursuit from Learmonth to Sebastopol ended just just after 12pm this afternoon when a man was arrested near a McDonald's restaurant on Albert Street.
Police were chasing a man driving an older model BMW sedan, who initially refused to pull over on the Sunraysia Highway earlier this morning.
Highway Patrol units from Ballarat soon joined the chase, which snaked its way through Learmonth, Wendouree, Ballarat Central and finally Sebastopol.
At one point during the pursuit, the driver of the BMW poked and vacuum cleaner head out the top of the vehicle's sunroof and began waving it at police.
The moment was captured on video by a reader of The Courier, who said he could hear the man "laughing" as he drove past the pursuit in a 40km/h roadwork zone in Wendouree.
"I couldn't believe it," the witness said.
"He was laughing - I just thought 'why is he holding a vacuum cleaner?'"
Police finally intercepted the BMW at McDonalds in Sebastopol and will interview him later today.
