TWO teens will make their senior debuts for the Ballarat Lady Devils, while another has a chance to cement her place when the team contests the opening round of the pre-season Casey Cup tomorrow (Sunday) against premier league side Cairnlea.
Hannah Kozaris, 14, and Lucy Flynn, 15, are named in the Blockbuster Lady Devils squad for the match, along with 17-year-old Julia Antonetti.
They are part of a generational change that is happening at the Lady Devils in their bid to win the Football Federation Victoria women’s state league one title, and claim their own place in Victorian Premier League.
Ballarat coach Rick Romein said the pre-season competition was an ideal setting for young players to gain experience.
“We had three of our senior players in last weekend and the rest was our youth. There is added pressure for our older players to keep their place,” Romein said.
“It is a big ask for the girls but they have already shown a lot.”
Romein is heading in to his third season as head coach
