NEW Miners’ recruit Chris Smith will play his first game for Ballarat’s premier basketball team against his previous team the Mount Gambier Pioneers in a pre-season clash at the Ballarat Minerdome tomorrow.
The match will also see newcomers Matt Hanson and Kris Blicavs make their debut, led by newly-appointed coaches David Flint and Eric Hayes.
Smith, standing at 208 centimetres, played for the Pioneers for two seasons, leaving the side at the end of last year to join the Miners.
Blicavs was the youth league’s Most Valuable Player in 2012 and has shown intensity and flashy offence in Miners’ training.
American addition to the side Hanson, who arrived in Australia less than three weeks ago, is an entertaining player for spectators.
Young Ballarat players Lindsay Cole, Ash Constable and Sean Massey will also feature in the side, and are expected to be seen throughout the Miners’ 2013 season.
The game begins at 7.30pm and entry is a gold coin donation.
