LAKE Wendouree was the ideal backdrop for singer Andrew Wishart to wow the crowd at Saturday’s second Lakeside Twilights concert.
Chatting with fans after the performance, the 2011 X-Factor runner-up described the surroundings of the lake foreshore as “perfect”.
“It’s a good place to give it something different and a bit of acoustic stuff,” he said.
“They’re a very receptive crowd.”
Wishart was joined on the concert line-up by Ross Wilson, who sent the audience wild with his performance of Eagle Rock.
Brian Cadd and Glenn Shorrock showcased their list of hits before Dragon brought the evening to a fitting close.
Cadd said he was impressed by Lake Wendouree and the enthusiastic crowd the event attracted.
“There’s no competition with somewhere beautiful like this,” he said.
Regional Touring Promoter Duane McDonald said there was something very special about the Lake Wendouree foreshore.
“What better way to showcase some heritage acts?” he said.
“They’re all icons in their own right. It was just hit after hit.”
He said the event brought more than 1000 people through the gates.
Mr McDonald said another two concerts were planned for later this year.
