Triple gold for Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club member

FIRST year rider Jake Ashmore captured a golden treble in the Victorian under-11 track cycling championships at Preston on Sunday.

Ashmore took out the 200-metre flying sprint, six lap (1950m) scratch race and 500m time trial title.

The Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club member also claimed victory in a non-championship four-lap handicap from scratch at the carnival.

Ashmore is a bottom age rider in the under-11 division.

His efforts also earned him rider of the day and a “specialized” race helmet.

Ashmore is also the Sport Biz junior sports star of the week for his achievements in the championships.

His clubmate Graeme Frislie earned two gold medals in the under-13 boys’ division.

Frislie has enjoyed a successful summer and was on top of the podium for the scratch race and flying 200m.

He was fourth in the 500m time trial.

Frislie had a mix of placings in support events.

Rochelle Liston was a bronze medallist in the under-13 scratch race over eight laps (2600m).

She added a fourth in the flying 200m sprint and fifth in the time trial.
