ROUND-one winners Gordon and Sebastopol will square off in the second round of the Tech Up Cup pre-season competition tomorrow evening at Marty Busch Reserve.
The Eagles and the Kookaburras’ firsts outfits are booked to play one another in the night’s second match after last weekend’s defeat of Sebastopol’s second side and Ballan, respectively.
Tomorrow night will also see Ararat and Skipton enter the competition for their first matches of the competition, with Skipton to play Sebastopol 2 at 6.05pm, and Ballan to take on Ararat at 7.50pm. The top-of-the-table match between Sebastopol 1 and Gordon will take place at 7pm.
Each match is played over two 20-minute halves.
“It was a good start to the Cup last Friday night,” Sebastopol football manager and competition organiser Ken Norman said. “Gordon was far too strong for the Sebas 2 side and then Sebas 1 just managed to hold out a fast-finishing Ballan.”
Gordon thrashed Sebastopol’s “possibles” team 15.7 (97) to 0.2 (2), despite the fact that Kookaburras side did include a number of senior players.
Former Hawthorn and Essendon footballer Mark Williams is expected to line up for Ballan.
Sebastopol’s “probables” defeated Ballan 6.4 (40) to 5.4 (34).
The Tech Up Cup will be awarded to the team that has the highest combined score at the conclusion of three games.
Gordon sits top of the ladder on 97, followed by Sebastopol (40), Ballan (34) and Sebastopol two (2).
