The Haymes Red Devils will host Football Federation Victoria state league five club Truganina Hornets at Trekardo Park tomorrow at 3pm in the statewide FA Cup-style competition.
With 94 teams contesting the FFV Men’s State Knockout Cup this season, 24 teams were randomly drawn to play round one, including the Red Devils. The 12 first round victors will join Vikings, formerly known as Sebastopol, and 51 other teams in the second round of the State Knockout Cup next weekend, with the 16 top ranked teams in the state having byes until round four.
A record 37 teams will contest the Women’s State Knockout Cup, with 10 playing this weekend. The Blockbuster Lady Devils will join the competition next weekend in round two.
The Red Devils will enter tomorrow’s match with a few new faces, first-year coach Sinisa Cohadzic said yesterday.
New recruits Laurance Gogorossis (Clifton Hill) and Rhyse Crowe (Great Britain) will make their debuts in red tomorrow, while
teenagers Stefan Nigro and Luke Moodley are among a number of younger players likely to press for senior opportunities this season.
