Courier delivery problems soon to be old news

TEETHING problems for the new company responsible for the delivery of The Courier are being worked through, the firm’s zone director has stressed.

Late and non-delivery of the newspaper and billing issues have afflicted the first few months of Ballarat Distribution Centre’s (BDC) contract to deliver The Courier and other papers throughout the region.

However, Kate McDonald from BDC says these issues are being addressed.

Ms McDonald said data was the biggest issue causing the problems.

“BDC is the consolidation of seven newsagencies in Ballarat. They have joined as one co-operative, one collective,” Ms McDonald said.

“However, that means that every customer (from each of the seven newsagencies) had their own customer number, which had to be changed manually for the new system.

While many customers believe BDC is a Melbourne-based company, that is not the case.

“This merger has been a big move for all of us ... but consolidation (of businesses) is happening everywhere. Logistically, it is working a lot better,” Ms McDonald said.
