Ms Lockett visited her former school Ballarat Clarendon College yesterday giving tips to VCE dance students and helping school houses with their musical numbers. 

Together with Ashlea Pyke, who also attended Clarendon and works in musical theatre, she will launch a program next year co-ordinating workshops run by themselves and other professionals in the industry for Clarendon dancers and performers. 

“I’ve had so many people contact me through Facebook and other social media asking questions and for advice and this is a great way for me to communicate directly with students,” Ms Lockett said.

“It will give these students access to people who usually country towns wouldn’t be able to access.” 

She will run the program while continuing to dance with the Australian Ballet, with the students receiving mentorship from professionals succeeding in the industry. 

“We want to be accessible to students, and help to build a bridge between school and professions, and making that transition after high school easier,” she said.

Year 11 and VCE 3/4 dance student Keely Wilson said she had known about Brooke since she was little and it was a great opportunity for her to have an esteemed dancer give her guidance. 

“She has so much experience, I’ll be getting her advice with my VCE solo so I can do well,” Ms Wilson said.
