ROOSTERS hard man Nick Couch has been ruled out of 2013 Victorian Football League action with a season-ending knee injury.
Couch had scans last night with results revealing today a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and significant bone damage.
The tough midfielder damaged his knee in the North Ballarat Roosters development league practice match against Port Melbourne on Saturday.
Selkirk Roosters coach Gerard FitzGerald said Couch sustained the injury in a simple change of direction while running, not in a contest or a "jumble of legs".
The 25-year-old, who hails from Terang-Mortlake, was promoted to the Roosters' leadership group this year and had been playing in the development match to help instruct younger players on field.
Couch also sustained a broken finger from the match.
He will meet with medical staff later this week to determine his football future.
