BALLARAT Bowling Club and Sebastopol will host the premier and division one preliminary finals respectively this Saturday.
Victoria will face Sebastopol at Ballarat in premier division, alongside the division six preliminary final between Invermay and Victoria.
BMS and Ballarat will play their division one preliminary final at Sebastopol adjacent to the division eight final between Linton and BMS.
Other finals venues are Buninyong, Victoria, Mt Xavier and Webbcona.
The preliminary finals in detail are:
Premier division: Victoria v Sebastopol at Ballarat. Umpires: P. Auer, G. Archibald.
Division one: BMS v Ballarat at Sebastopol. Umpires: Bishop, I. Forbes.
Division two: Sebastopol v Midlands Golf at Buninyong. Umpires: S. Chapman and G. Simpson.
Division three: Clunes v Sebastopol at Mt Xavier. Umpires: T. Walker, P. Pike.
Division four: Buninyong v Sebastopol at Webbcona. Umpires: J. Muller, R. Coad.
Division five: Smeaton v City Oval at Webbcona. Umpires: S. Peters, P. Powell.
Division six: Invermay v Victoria at Ballarat. Umpires: J. Holt, K. McKeegan.
Division seven: Ballarat East v Waubra at Victoria. Umpires: L. Taffe, M. Tate.
Division eight: Linton v BMS at Sebastopol. Umpires: Bishop, I. Forbes.
Division nine: Learmonth v Ballarat East at Victoria. Umpires: J. Holt, K. McKeegan.
Matches start at 1.30pm after rollup with premier division beginning earlier at 1pm. The first named club is the designated "home side" and will be responsible for providing results. All side managers should have some spare discs in case the umpires decide the discs on a bowl are not up to the required standard and need to be replaced.
First round of the finals had top sides winning seven matches and second sides three. Third placed sides on the ladders won seven matches leaving three winners for fourth sides.
Bowlers are advised that the annual match against the Goldfields side has been cancelled this season.
Clubs are invited to conduct the BDBD mixed pairs championship to be held on April 13/14. Entry forms are with club secretaries.
PREDICTIONS: My selections weren't printed but there were 10 winners and six losers. Take my word for it. It should be easier this weekend.
