Basketball: American centre signs with Rush

AMERICAN centre Nya Mason has made the move to the Minerdome.

Ballarat Rush unveiled Mason as its first major signing - the top rebounder of South East Australian Basketball League rival Albury-Wodonga.

Auslec Rush coach Donna Rinaldi said Mason, a proven SEABL performer, would really bolster her roster.

"She has been doing extensive fitness and on court sessions in her break and we are excited that Nya is joining the Rush," Rinaldi said.

"At 187 centimetres, she will bring much needed height and strength and we will be looking for her to dominate the rebounds and give us a real inside presence."

Mason made her SEABL debut with the Lady Bandits last season, which she launched in a 23-point, 12-rebound game against Rush/.

Ballarat Basketball Club is hopeful Mason will arrive in Ballarat early next month.
