Siege at Black Hill property

A MAN has been arrested, ending a siege lasting almost five hours in Black Hill.

The man voluntarily came out of a Napier Street unit about 12.50pm, which police had surrounded since 9am.

In a police press conference a short time ago, Senior Sergeant John Gibson confirmed there had been an altercation between five men about 8am.

When police arrived at the scene, one of the men locked himself inside the unit and was believed to have a "long arm firearm with a scope".

After his arrest, Senior Sergeant Gibson said police found other weapons in the unit, including a second rifle and a tomahawk.

The man, believed to be aged in his mid 20s, was treated by paramedics at the scene for head injuries.

Senior Sergeant Gibson said the man's injuries were not serious.

He said police were still to locate the four other men involved in the altercation.

More than 20 police attended the siege, including two ambulance units and eight members from the Victoria Police Critical Incident Response Team.
