The three-day event, which is in its seventh year, is held at the Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre.

Golden Plains co-festival director Greg Peele said yesterday that the event, which kicked off on Saturday and finishes today, has been a success so far.

“All the bands have played well, weather has been incredible, it’s been hot but not oppressively hot,” Mr Peele said.

“We are halfway throughout the festival so there are few more to come...but Psarandonis was amazing. 

“He doesn’t fit the traditional festival mould but we pride ourselves on mixing it up.”

Bannockburn Police acting Sergeant Craig Grant said the crowd had been well behaved.

“The crowd behaviour has been fantastic as usual,” acting Sergeant Grant said.

“The event was very well organised and we are very happy with the way it is going.

“We have had wonderful weather and everyone is enjoying themselves.” 

However, acting Sergeant Grant said a small fire had ignited in the generator area due to heat from an exhaust flu.

“It was quickly brought under control by the onsite police prior to the CFA attendance,” he said.

Mr Peele said the festival was renowned for its relaxed atmosphere. 

“The one-stage policy, BYO, the proudly no commercial sponsorship and no advertising makes us different from other festivals,” he said.

“The spirit is a lot more relaxed with a certain amount of freedom, which the crowd takes on board.

“Consequently it operates more as a community and there is a real sense of well-being. “People look after each other and there is very little trouble in the crowds.”
