Region's best darts players line up for Super League

BALLARAT Eureka Masters Super League will again be a focus for the cream of Western Victoria’s darts players this year.

A line-up of the region’s best 25 will launch a new season at the Millers Arms Hotel tomorrow night.

Ballarat’s Shane Keirl is the defending champion in a tournament where he has enjoyed enormous success.

He has been a 10-time Eureka Masters Super League champion since 1987.

Keirl said the super league had again created enormous interest.

He said players from Geelong, Ararat, Bendigo and Maryborough would challenge a strong Ballarat contingent for the prestigious singles trophy.

Played in a best-of-seven game format, the super league will be contested over 24 weeks.

As well as Keirl, his son Paul, and Ballarat’s Geoff Ford, Andy Dean and Herb Moore are likely contenders for the title.
