Alice Kunek to play with Ballarat Rush

EMERGING Bulleen Boomer Alice Kunek will play with Ballarat Rush in the South East Australian Basketball League this year.

Rush announced her signing today.

She is the second major recruit to be secured by Ballarat in a week, with United States import Nya Mason lured from the Albury-Wodonga Lady Bandits.

Kunek, who is an Opals squad member, played with Nunawading in the SEABL last season - leading Spectres in scoring and rebounding with 19.4 points and 7.7 rebounds.

The 22-year-old has spent six years in the WNBL.

Before joining Bulleen in 2010-11, she had stints at Dandenong Rangers and the AIS.

Kunek was the Boomers' third-highest scorer and fourth-best rebounder with 13 points and 5.2 rebounds last season.

While the SEABL season begins this weekend, Rush has an extra week to prepare.

It has its first game against Frankston Lady Blues at Frankston on Saturday, March 23.
