ANIMAL lovers rejoice: there’s a new cute and cuddly creature in town.
Meet Harry Potoroo, the new long-nosed potoroo being kept at a local mobile zoo.
Potworoos are traditionally nocturnal, however the owner of The Rookeepers mobile zoo, Michael Church, said Harry was still friendly during the day.
“These guys being hand-reared means they are used to this kind of thing, so the kids can get up close and see them,” Mr Church said.
Long-nosed potoroos are endangered in Victoria, making the new addition a rare one. Their threats are feral cats, foxes and owls.
He said Harry would soon be added to his rotation of other enadangered and threatened animals, which he takes out to schools and kindergartens.
“It gives the kids a bit more of an idea of what’s out there, because they don’t really see much of this stuff,” he said,
