Armed hold up at Ballan KFC: woman injured

A WOMAN was injured last night, believed to be with a syringe, after two offenders held up the KFC fast food outlet at Ballan on the Western Freeway.

The store was closed when the offenders entered about 11.30pm, with the female employee still on the premises.

Victoria Police Armed Crime Task Force Detective Sergeant Brendan Van De Duim said the offenders were armed, believed to be with the syringe.

The woman, 28, was injured in the hold up, before the offenders made away in a car, carrying an undisclosed amount of cash.

The woman was taken to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

Police hope to interview the victim later today and will also review CCTV footage from the incident.

The outlet is cordoned off with police tape and remains closed as police continue their investigation.
