Employers and employees meet at UB’s Recruitment Fair

LOOKING for a job got a bit easier for those at the University of Ballarat Graduate Recruitment Fair, held on Thursday at the Mt Helen campus.

University of Ballarat Student Connect director, Jeannie King, said the event attracted about 20 employers from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, to Child and Family Services (CAFS).

“It is aimed at helping our students meet employers who are looking for graduates from university,” Ms King said.

“The career fair is also for those who are not in their final years so that they get thinking about their future employment.”

Bachelor of Psychology final year student, Tischa Biddle, said the fair made her think about options she hadn’t considered before.

“It was really helpful,” Ms Biddle said.

“CAFS were really interesting. It made me think about working with children in residential units, which requires shift work.”

CAFS HR manager Krys Pekin said she had talked to students from the Rural Social Work degree and had started  a mailing list for potential employees.
