BALLARAT Grammar School secured Ballarat's only win in the Head of the Schoolgirls' regatta on the Barwon River at Geelong at the weekend.
Grammar claimed gold in the open division three school four.
Monique Doust, Zoe Burrows, Edwina Fry, Edwina Williams and cox Clare Steward combined to take the honours.
Grammar also rowed its way to a silver, while Ballarat Clarendon College collected one silver and five bronze, and Loreto College one silver and two bronze.
The Grammar Ballarat Head of the Lake champion crew had to settle for second in the division one final, with BCC third.
The Head of the Schoolgirls is a key lead-up to the national championships, which began at Penrith yesterday.

BALLARAT High School crews took away four gold and three silver medals from the School Sports Victoria Regatta on the Barwon River on Thursday.
High School was the fourth most successful school at the regatta, with its performance only bettered by Corowa Rowing Club (six gold), Gippsland Grammar (five) and Kardinia International College (also four).
A composite BHS-Kardinia crew took out the female coxed eight zone championship with Kardinia's Leah Du Vallon, Erin Fahey, Siobhan Quinane and Natasha Ferguson combining with the High School head of the lake four of Lucy Tsipouras, Shannon Simpson, Rochelle Lundall and Tara Kermeen.
They had 26.45 seconds to spare over Melbourne Grammar in the 1000m event.
The same girls, with cox Remi Bilson, also saluted in the female school coxed four championship.
High School's other wins came in the male Year 9 school coxed four (Connor Tabbitt, Zack Fiegert, Sam Carr, Daniel Fairhurst, cox Ross Darlow) and in the male Year 10 school coxed four (Lachlan Simpson, Kyle Tabbitt, Jacob McMickan, Alex Wisely, cox Connor Tabbitt).
