BALLARAT's newly upgraded harness racing track will get its first taste of racing on Thursday night.
Ballarat and District Trotting Club will runs trials, with the first scheduled for 7pm.
The camber on the 1000-metre circuit has been increased from seven to 14 per cent, new perimeter fencing installed and lighting relamped.
The $600,000 project is the first major work on the track since 1992, when it was extended to 1000m and the running rail replaced by pegs.
The final touches will be put on the track tomorrow when the final racing surface is added to the new base.
The BDTC will run its first race meeting on the new-look track on Thursday, March 28.
The program will feature the inaugural running of the $30,000 Laser Electrical Lightning Mile.
