BALLARAT has overcome adversity at the Football Federation Victoria state championships in Bendigo to claim the under-12 title on the weekend.
The team, made up to large degree of Ballarat Soccer Academy players, defeated Cobram 3-2 in the final on Sunday. Ballarat had previously played in a number of finals over the past three years without collecting the silverware.
Teams from all over Victoria competed in the two-day event with group matches on the Saturday and Sunday morning, and the finals on Sunday afternoon.
Ballarat's under-10 team was beaten by Bundoora United 1-8 in the final, while the under-15 team was knocked out in a semi-final 1-3.
