Fairfax outsources ad creation

FAIRFAX Regional Media, publisher of The Courier, has confirmed changes to Launceston, Ballarat, Wagga Wagga and Albury pre-press operations that will see technical advertising production work at those sites performed by specialist firm 2adpro.

In a statement released yesterday, the company said there had been extensive consultation with affected employees and the AMWU since the company made its proposal on March 5.

The move expands existing arrangements that Fairfax has in place with 2adpro, an international company that delivers quality services to media companies around the world.

“Quality will be maintained for readers and advertisers and the new arrangements don’t change where the newspapers are printed. There will still be specialist ad positions at Launceston, Ballarat, Wagga Wagga and Albury,” the company said.

The announcement will affect up to 27 full-time-equivalent staff across the four sites.

Fairfax Regional Media has been progressively rationalising pre-press operations through hubbing arrangements in recent times in response to the changes in the media industry, both locally and globally.
