Olympian gives Creswick triathlon course thumbs up

OLYMPIC triathlon bronze medallist Erin Densham has given her tick of approval today in Creswick for the Victorian Cross Triathlon State Championships course - now she wants to get dirty.

Densham says tomorrow's off-road state title will be tough and will hurt, a lot, but she can hardly wait.

The London Olympian will bid for the Dirt Mistress crown, as overall best performer in the state championships and separate eight-kilometre trail run and 45-kilometre cross-country mountain bike events, which form part of the In2Adventure meet at Novotel's Forest Resort.

"It is my first race this year," Densham said.

"Basically I wanted something that was smaller than ITU events, closer to home and close to my heart - I love local events."

Densham has gone off road before, including an XTerra World Championship, and said it was a great way to get back into racing.

Dirt Fest action starts from 7.55am tomorrow with events for all ages and abilities running across the weekend.
