BALLARAT has eight representatives in the Victorian team to contest the School Sport Australia Cross Country Championships in Adelaide on August 25.
Ballarat schools and regional athletic centre clubs have their strongest hand in the boys' 16-17 year division, with Stewart McSweyn, Mitchell Thompson and Ryan Norman selected.
The state team was named after Saturday's Victorian all-school titles at Bundoora Park.
Ballarat athletes selected:
Girls' 10 years: Amy Canavan (Eureka/Meredith Primary School)
Girls' 14-15 years: Rachel Waters (Eureka/FCJ College Benalla)
Girls' 16-17 years: Courtney Scott (Eureka/Ballarat Clarendon College)
Girls' 18-19 years: Anna Kelly (Loreto College)
Boys' 12 years: Sam Williams (Wendouree/Alfredton Primary School)
Boys' 16-17 years: Stewart McSweyn (Eureka/Ballarat Clarendon College), Mitchell Thompson (Wendouree/Melbourne Grammar School), Ryan Norman (Eureka/Ballarat High School)
In addition, Jacks Davies has been named in the Victorian junior team for the Athletics Australia Cross Country Championships to be run at the same venue on the same day as the all-schools titles.
He is in the boys' 16-17 year division.
